The most common question we get by email is some version of "how many panels do I need?". There is a real answer, and it depends on three things: your kid’s age, your living-room floor plan, and whether you want them building castles or forts.
By age
Ages 3–4: start with 6 panels
A six-panel set builds a small cube — enough for a first "house" without overwhelming a small kid. If they lose interest, you have not overspent. If they love it, add more panels.
Ages 5–7: 16–20 panels
This is the sweet spot for most families. Enough panels to build a two-room structure, a rocket, or a castle with two towers. Enough variety that the same box stays interesting for six months.
Ages 8+: 24+ panels
Older kids design more elaborate structures and get frustrated running out of pieces mid-build. A larger set also handles two kids playing together without one hoarding the good panels.
By room size
- Small room (bedroom, apartment): Stick to 6–16 panels. Larger sets need floor space to spread out during a build.
- Medium room (family room): 16–25 panels is comfortable.
- Large room, play area, or daycare: 24 panels and up. If two or more kids play together regularly, buy one set per kid and combine.
By what you want them to build
- Simple houses and forts: 6–13 panels
- Rockets, tunnels, arched castles: 16–20 panels
- Multi-room structures, mazes, playhouses that hold two kids: 20–25 panels
- Free-form group play in a large space: 30+ panels or two combined sets
Type-A or Type-B?
Type-A is our standard set — perfect for home use, all the certifications, standard colors. Type-B has reinforced edges for heavier use (daycares, indoor play spaces, siblings-who-share) and slightly premium pricing.
A word on upsizing later
Sets are stackable. You can start at six panels, love it, and add another twelve later. The panels connect the same way regardless of when you bought them. There is no wrong first purchase — only wrong final purchases where you bought too many at once.
